Put deposit down on a WRB Limited...
Friday- deposit
Saturday- drove 1 1/2 hours to buy a WRB Limited. The drive went by faster than I expected. I was so excited I did t even look at the condition of the car. Sales guy gets my ID info and we are ready to test drive. I started the car and notice there were 150 miles or so already on the car. I didn't think to much about it he was a nice guy and I was driving a BRZ!! We get back and I start to look over the car and ask why so many miles? It was on another lot in NY and driven to MA. There were scratches on the front lip, passenger side door and a chip on the drivers side door. The chip wasn't to bad but the scratches were light but deep. (Thin paint) The door panel near the speaker was scuffed up from shoes. I told them thanks but no thanks. They were very understanding and offered to discount the price of the car or any other BRZ on the lot. They has 8 of them. Only 1 blue and a white at. I wanted blue or white. I didn't buy it I'm sad but even at a discount I would not have been happy with a brand new car that didn't look brand new. There always 2014!! |

Smart move on your part. It would have probably eaten you alive that it wasn't perfect. Can't say that I would have had that kind of will power. Once I test drive a car, it puts me under it's spell to buy it...

They offered to give it back. They also told me they have one coming in in 4 weeks and I could move the deposit to that car. There was not an exact delivery date. I'm still thinking about that, most of you guys waited months not weeks.
The guys at this dealership were awesome. They were so nice and understanding. No pressure at all. They kept saying were here to sell me a car not steal my deposit. Does anyone know when orders open up for 2014 and when they are releasing news? At this point it could be end of summer before the car comes in. |

I went to another dealership recently (non-Subaru), signed paperwork, and put down a deposit for a vehicle(a rather large one as well for some unknown reason). I'll be the 1st to say this is my fault. you don't sign paperwork and put down money for no reason, I absolutely agree this is a commitment. But then I saw the BRZ and obviously my breath was taken away. Even discussed with a Subaru dealership and they informed me that unless I took delivery of the other car, I was under no obligation and should be able to back out of the previous deal and get my deposit back Went back to the original non-Subaru dealership and was told no way. Sure enough, the paperwork I signed indicated the deal was binding with a non-refundable deposit. Still haven't taken delivery of the car yet 3 lessons: 1. never sign until you are 100% sure 2. put down the bare minimum deposit 3. gotta wait 1-3 years to pick up the BRZ as a secondary car

Thanks for the support. It was not easy at all. I wanted blue and didn't want to settle. Not that the car doesn't look good in the other colors but I'm partial to the blue. My 20th GTI and R32 were blue too.

I still would have bought it. You gotta realize it is only a car and it won't be perfect for long. I scrape my foot on the door quite often. It is just the reality of not wanting to door ding cars while trying to get in and out of the car. Good luck with your 2014. I will be enjoying mine on the drive home from work today.

Props to OP for being able to turn it down, I don't think I'd be able to do the same. |

I think I know what dealer you're talking about. They do have a lot of BRZ's in their inventory and it says there is another WRB BRZ in transit.
BTW how much of a discount they did offer? |

We didn't talk about the discount. I didn't want it in the condition it was in.

i was in a similar situation. the local dealership had only a CBS, but i really wanted WRB. so i have to wait a month until it gets in. everyone has different priorities. i'm sure some would say, "it's just a car" but i am willing to wait for the color i want
