DC Auto Show

So I checked out the BRZ in person at the Washington, D.C. Auto Show yesterday and I wad definitely blown away by how beautiful the car is in person. Another member has already posted pics of the Silver one so I'm not going to post any other pics that you guys haven't seen already (it also doesn't help the fact that I lost my camera there with a lot of detailed pics...but I already feel really bad about that so lets not go there).

Anyways, sitting inside the BRZ the seats immediately hugs you. The intertrior is fantastic but don't expect anyone taller than a 10yr. old to fit in the back. I'm 5'10" and had the seat not too far back and I couldn't imagine how anyone can fit back there. Said being said, it doesn't mean you couldn't move the driver seat forward and accomodate a Oompah Loompah.

The engine hood was open and there isn't much space to work with. The engine bay is cramped but shouldn't be a problem for regular maintenance like oil changes and so on. The exterior of the car was absolutely beautiful with sleek curves and a aggressive stance. The car looks much lower in person than in the pictures.

A very annoying incident happened while I was taking pics. While I was taking pics and getting out of the BRZ...a random guy looked at me and this is what ensued:

Random Guy: Hey...you know if they got a turbo in this thing???

Me: No...not yet at least

Random Guy: Shyt - it's not even worth looking at....

Me: What do you drive?

Random Guy: Toyota Corolla
Me: Shyt - You're not even worth talking to...

and then I just walked away...I couldn't help but to be so pissed off at some people who don't know a thing about cars especially this one. I mean no disrepect to people with Corollas ( I used to have one) but it seems to me people with the least amount of time behind a **good** sports car have the least amount of knowledge of them too. Anyways, the BRZ looked great and there were many people who were oogling at it and complimenting on how great it looks.

Can't wait to buy one!

I was there yesterday as well, I had the opposite reaction to you. I thought the car looked very bland and boring but that might be because of the dull silver paint.

I took some pics, will post them tonight.

I just came back and I'm pretty content with the BRZ limited. I will write a review on it ... like right now lol and I'll only upload some pictures because they are so many pics of this car already.

Thoughts on silver color? Dull, bland, ok?

So I spent about lol an hour in just Subaru's Section, And I will say this out of all the colors there on all the cars. This BRZ's silver and a SWP Sti was the best out of all of them. And I saw Crystal black silica and Dark Gray metallic there I really liked the Silver it went very well with the car. I have a changed my opinion about dark gray metallic it's a nice color, but it is almost black in person. The lighting on that floor was terrible, any photo taken with out a proper light will look really bad. Verdict If I was to purchase a BRZ I would put Dark Grey Metallic, Satin White Pearl and Sterling Silver Metallic as my top 3 choices. And the judgement is from the other colors I seen, Lighting red seems kinda bi polar i've seen it many time and I can never see it as always looking good in any lighting. WRB is a nice color if you love Subaru's blue and the Galaxy Blue I saw there was very...dark reminds me of the old Blue Celica.

But I'm keeping reserve my opinion till I see the other colors. I can tell you this if you want Crystal Black Silicia that's....a headache to clean.
I'll start writing a full review now.

The wheels look over styled. It would have been great if they offered a wheel with a simpler design (one color & less spokes). Hmm.. I wonder if you can downgrade to steel wheels. lol

Zaku's DC show BRZ Review!

Ok here is my review, I focused on the Interior because the exterior is sorta subjective subjective. I will say this Silver is gorgeous, and the Spoiler looks good on the car. On to the interior...

(Ichi is chillin on the hood)

I spent about 4 hours over in just the import car floor of the Washington DC auto Show. So here is how I based my review I found the cars that are as close to what I thought would be from what I used to own and what is sort of main stream. So I went to the newer version of the car I used to own so I used a 2012 Honda Civic Si as my standard base of measure, and a Mazda Miata that’s nearby to gauge my better judgment, and a WRX STI for the best Judgments. I drive a Forester currently and the STi is definitely similar to the Forester in the interior so I’m going from an owner’s experience.

Because the subject of the exterior is so subjective and differ from individual to individual; I will tell you about my preferences for the exterior. For the interior I will back up all claims with the two cars mentioned above. Before we begin, I went to look at this car with 2 other friends and car enthusiast I am 6’0 and about 150 pounds, my other friend was 5’9 at about 170 and my last is 5’11 and he’s 200 pounds because he plays football for his school.

So for someone who came from a Civic Si I can tell you sitting in the Subaru BRZ the interior quality of the Limited Trim were much better, a lot of soft touch the only really big disappointment for the dash is the silver plastic trim piece being very cheap. The plastic piece that sits on top of the automatic shifter was of the same material. I did not like that very much, but thought back to the hard plastic surfaces of the Civic and well I would definitely take the BRZ interior over that one.

I asked the other two friends and they felt the same way, we then compared it to the Miata, We thought that the BRZ interior was better than the Miata the Miata’s interior came off as very hard as well, but it was still much better than a Civic Si. The seats were very nice(best part of the interior imho) we all sat very snuggled in them, my bigger 200lbs friend said that he still felt very comfortable. But he did comment that “Anyone bigger than me might not feel as good” so I’m not sure how it would feel for someone over 200lbs.

(My friend sitting in the back of the car, notice the front passenger seat is just about to touch the dash)

Rear visibility was very good, compared to the 370z but here I would have to say my old Civic and the new one we tried had much better visibility. So now we tried, with the seating, unfortunately dude to some technical difficulties with the equipment I was only able to procure one picture to show. Let’s say this

The back seats are useless for grown men.

But you can fit easily children or more petite women inside the back and the passenger seat. She will not fit behind the driver. When we tried me being 6’0 my knees were starting to hit the steering wheel. One of my friends made the comment that if it was like the GTI steering wheel where the bottom is flat my knees might clear. I just also want to note that it has no steering wheel buttons; I think that maybe an option. So to get to the biggest point of this summary compared to the other cars and from my personal judgment.

This interior is worth 25K of a car meaning if Subaru price this at 30K with this interior it’s over priced. Now if the Premium version and the Scion FRS was anything close to the current Scion and or is even close to the Civic Si in interior quality I’m definitely ok with it. But for someone looking for more then that definitely… look towards the Limited Trim BRZ because I think it’s well worth the investment, It’s a good car and you get not a lot, but everything you need and just a little more for comfort.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, luckily there was barely anyone so I probably sat in the BRZ for the longest just taking down notes. Lol the car was closed off so they let me inside then closed it off again we had a good time with the BRZ.

I will be posting more pictures in the future.
