My 86 GT... in GT5

Hi All! I'm Argent, and I'm new here to the FT86 club! Glad to be here. I've recently become obsessed with the FR-S after seeing it on the GT5 news webpage, and I've recently been watching the Initial D anime, and I realize this car has heritage with the 86 that the star of that show drives!

Anyway, I've been playing around a little on GT5 tonight. One of the last things I did was take my 86 GT around the Rome Circuit in Free Run mode. I'm going to try to embed the video I took of my fast lap here. It was 1' 22.6, iirc. Enjoy!

Okay, embedding doesn't seem to be working, maybe I just don't know how to do it. If anyone could let me know, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

How do they get the photo-realistic environment? Driving simulators have certainly come a looooooong way since the last time I had a look at them.

I've never owned a console (not since the days of the ancient Atari, that is) as I've been PC gaming since the 1980s. Are consoles this good? Awesome.

Hours upon hours upon hours of hard work. I seem to recall watching some production videos that showed them going to the locations where there were going to be tracks, like Rome, and taking LOTS of pictures.

I've had consoles my whole life, but I have PCs as well. I'm currently working on building a new PC, since all I have right now is a laptop! I think consoles work well with video games since they're dedicated boxes just for video games! I also highly recommend if you're going to play racing games, get a good racing wheel controller, and mount it on a good stand. I have an older Logitech G25 wheel. Me and my dad built an entire chair for it, which uses a seat from my old first car. It has a 6-speed gated manual shifter and the pedals include a clutch, there's also paddle shifters on the wheel if thats how you want to roll. You can also flip a dial over and the gated shifter becomes just a quick up/down shift, like a Hurst shifter. It's quite fun to play racing games with, but it does lack the feel of driving a real car, with the feeling of the slip in the clutch and the gears in the shifter.

Isn't this car great to drive? Rome is a great track. We should use it for next month's challenge.

What's the name of the blue paint you used to paint your 86?

That particular paint is called Hyper Blue Metallic. I don't think it's dark enough, I was trying to get it to look like the Ultramarine blue on the FR-S page...
