NASA made me do it
OK so I decided to try a track weekend with NASA in the TTD class.
then I looked closer at the rules and my front lower control arm solution to running the car 3" lower than stock with stock camber curves and roll center/bump steer was going to cost me EIGHT POINTS!!!!! Thats out of nineteen available! SO I completed my adjustable PRESS IN to the STOCK lower control arm geometry solulution... ant only have to take FOUR points...for a less adjustable but work alike solution. Add the Whiteline Front bushing and inboard bushing kits and you have 80% of the Robispec adjustable tubular solution (but still twice the weight). this system has Roll center adjustable correction Bump Steer correction added castor added antidive What it doesnt have of my full tubular solution is Track width adjustment Camber adjustment (as part of above) Precision of full metal Spherical bearings. This an all under 350.00 (whiteline parts NOT included) This is a simple PRESS IN MODIFICATION! leave the stock bushings in place and you will not even increase your NVH! Intake+1
Full exhaust +5 Fuel pump(e-85) +2 dive angle/ball joint mod +2 Bump steer mod +2 Suspension dampers/springs+5 Tires +0 Weight +0 Brakes +2 so 19 total.... Trying a inovative tire solution...lol 205 Hossier R6 -10 Points for size reduction +10 points for the tire...= ZERO tire mod points ;-)! (now lets see if my chassis tuning trickery can make the little sticky skinnies work!) What is your spin on the points? |

Might want to look at the dampers/springs rules. I believe the KW V3s and clubsports would be +3 for non btm shock and +2 for non btm springs. *edit* nevermind - looks like you have it at +5, I thought I read +7
You could gain +2 back by running stock brakes again. Remember, its time attack and you're only going out for a few laps. That being said, it might be in your best interest to dyno-reclass the car so you don't need to take points for any of the power mods at all. You may have to add some weight back in, but it's another option if you want to run a few more mods. We haven't yet tracked our car, but I was planning on running an E85 tune with all else stock motor for no points mods, +5 for shocks/springs, then use the rest on tires (A6s or R1S, etc) and some aero. Just me talking right now as we have no direct experience with this chassis just yet. In our experience NASA TT rewards cars that are built simpler. 2 But my Big Brake Solution takes SIXTY lbs off the car! 3 If I decide to go to miller I will go back to the stock airbox/snorkle with a drop in. stock fuel pump stock header. and or stock brakes... so I get 5-7 points back and will do a splitter and a diffuser. I'm pretty sure I can make the 205's work...time will tell! |

I'm interested to see how the tire size works out for you. I think you are right - if you keep the car at the current weight, I see no issue with a 205 Hoosier, esp. after hearing from you and CSG Mike at how effectively the cars use their tires. In the past, thats always been the key to a good TT car - good compound, smaller size. If you can find that optimal balance in compound and width for you, then the rest should fall into place pretty easy for you. I'm beginning to wonder if buying one of these cars to test with the goal of running at Nationals this year was a bad idea.

I've always wondered how Hankook slicks used in time attack compare to Hoosiers...
