Notre Dame star LB loses both his grandma and GF within 6 hours on the same day. National media blows the story up and calls it a "triumph over tragedy". Very long story short, the GF never existed... whole thing was a hoax between Te'o and a high school friend to gain publicity.

Yea...I don't know. I mean, people online can do some pretty messed up stuff. Honestly, I would not be surprised to find out that someone did this just because they hate Notre Dame.

However, the statements by Notre Dame and Manti Te'o seemed very well written. Possibly previously prepared statements?

You feel bad because he lied and is still lying?!? Source from the deadspin article suggests he was in on it.

So a blog can figure out the girl isn't real but the dude who is dating her can't? Plus what about all the news outlets saying when they met back in the summer/fall? Obviously that never happened but Teo never disputed it either.
