What kind of damage did I do?

I'm kinda tired of seeing all these scratch marks on my car and I though I should do something about it. I completely new to auto detailing so I have no idea if I should sand, apply putty to the surface, or just apply touch up paint. Here are my damages:

I'm pretty sure for the first pic I went down to the bare plastic. Should I apply putty in this case?
For the second damage, I have no idea how far I went or what steps I should take. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Pic one should be doable with some compound on the scratches and touch up on the missing paint. There are some very good how to videos on YouTube.
Pic 2 is a different matter. Touch up will look like crap in those big spaces. Hard to tell from the close ups just how big and where the spots are but looks like a spray job. Probably a couple of hundred at a shop or you may be able to do a half decent job with a spray can and some good prep. Depends on how fussy you are but if it was me I would go for it since I have had great success in the past. Again there are some how to videos on the method. I would stay away from putty on all those though since it can cause more issues then it solves.
All in all you could probably fix all that up well enough that you will know it is there but casual observers will never spot it.

Good lord, how did that even happen? I agree that the damage in the second photo would not go completely away unless you were to do a full repainting of that panel.

Yep. All three need a repaint if you want it to look good. Picture 1 could look temporarily passable with a light buff and OEM touch-up paint (be patient with it, apply it evenly, lightly wet sand and polish it.)

Second picture will look like crap even with touch-up paint because the paint looks like it will just continue to peel and the holes are already quite big.

For Pic 1, would you recommend that I apply a primer before touch up? Or should I go straight to touch up paint then wet sand?

Yep, I agree that the first scratches could be made to look better with some work and touch up paint.

The second picture looks like the paint never did want to stick to the undercoat. I'd suggest the whole panel be prepped proper re-sprayed.
