New here looking to buy a frs
Hey guys i am new here from the camaro5 fourm and am looking to but a new or used frs or brz in the next months....First question is the price of the, Are people getting any discounts off of sticker price? are there any incentives i can get? Also what are your guys opinions on the power of the car? Will it throw you back in your seat? And my last question what is the big main differences between the Frs and the BRZ? thanks for the help!

FR-S and BRZ share the same sheet metal. The front bumper/grill opening is the only outward differences. The FR-S comes in one model only with a choice of manual or automatic transmission. The BRZ has two levels; the premium and the limited offering both transmissions. There are more "goodies" available on the BRZ.
Pricing? FR-S is Scion and if the dealerships follow protocol they are MSRP only. They do offer some kind of a student discount but you would have to check with them to find out exactly what that is. BRZ being Subaru the dealers are free to do what ever they want. Most seem to be tacking on money over MSRP. Some are selling for just at MSRP and I"m sure there are some out there that are giving discounts off of MSRP. Throw you back in your seat? No. The twins are not dragsters designed for straight line driving. The magic of these two cars is in their balance and handling. The horsepower is 200 but considering the light weight of the vehicles the horsepower is more than significant for spirited driving. There's a saying among low horsepower sports car owners: It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow. Happens to be very true. If your concern is speed you might want to look somewhere else. If your concern is balance, handling and just pure fun in a sports car, one of these two will more than do the job for you. This car is an amazingly balanced platform for cornering right out of the box. The moderate power/weight/balance formula makes for really fun driving in the twisties.
Due to the modest power is not the most exciting in a straight line or for highway acommute. You can drop another $10K in mods or so and make it do 1/4 miles and so on but you'd just be better off with a Camaro/Mustang then. This is a club racer that is accessable to more people than ever before.

thanks for the help! Where i live there are a lot of country roads,twisty and windy i think this car would preform quite well on these roads.....I am not looking for a ton of power but would like to know i can get to 60mph without a lot of lag. I noticed there are very slight differences of the Brz And Frs headlights can someone tell me more about the lights

This will be a big shift from the Camaro. The twins are not drag cars, but they certainly provide all the speed you need to get in trouble.
Your best bet is to drive one at the dealers. Demand still seems to be high, so dealer incentives wont be many if at all. Subaru seems to be less scrupulous than Scion on sticking it to the customers as far as mark-ups. The FRS will be more back seat limited than even the Camaro, so factor that in; the backseats are more like odly shaped parcel shelves than of any practical use. About as useful as the backseat in my MGB GT. |

If you are not looking for a ton of power right off the bat and you live where there are plenty of open "twist and windy" roads, the FR-S/BRZ is one of the most practical cars you could get. The main difference between the FR-S and BRZ headlights is: FR-S equipped with halogen projectors & BRZ equipped with HIDs.
One note on the FR-S being offered at MSRP is to truly understand what Scion Pure Pricing actually means. It is common for many to think that Pure Pricing means you will be able to walk into a dealership and find a M/T or A/T FR-S at the advertised price on the www.scion.com website. What Pure Pricing actually means is a dealership that advertises a M/T FR-S for say $25,600 (with appropriate options for the extra charge over base MSRP), the sticker price on the car upon your arrival to the dealership must remain $25,600 with no additions....this way the dealership cannot lure you in by baiting you for $25,600 and when you get to the dealership they cannot place a "mark up" on the actual price. What you see advertised is what should be on the sticker. |

Not to bash on the twins. I love them. But I think you might be downgrading coming from a camero.

I plan on keeping the camaro....and using the frs or brz as a daily driver.... Reason i asked about incentives is because i heard of people geting the car at 500 over invoice

Performance is what you would expect from a Civic Si...but with rwd. The Civic guys will froth at the mouth at the idea that they are the same performance, but nearly every test proves them wrong.

If you're going to keep your camaro for fun and use this as a daily then def. look into it because it's a blast to drive home after a shit day at work...just sayin'. You're choosing a good time to look into them as dealers (around here anyway) finally have them in regular invetory (no mark-up) with them sort of being an off-season purchase right now.
