In the market for a dash cam and police radar.

I believe in the curse, so I'll be getting a dash cam, and have gotten stopped twice already, so I'll get a police radar also. I have no knowledge in either of these, so can anyone recommend me some good products?

Here is a great site for dash cam info

http://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-comparison/

I am running DVR 027 myself and its been great no issues. Only cons in my book are 720p HD, and size of the mount. I managed to make a custom mount so now its just the HD quality issue. These things are dirt cheap I have found a couple for sale for 17 bucks!

I just bought F900LHD just so I can have a camera as well if I ever need to take pictures in the event of a crash. This one has gotten good reviews as well but once again size seems to be the biggest con for it. This cam does it all tho and even has the motion detect mode like a lot of the higher end ones. This is more expensive than the DVR 027 but I still found one for only $70. I will review it and post up some sample vids when it comes in.

The BlackVue looks great and the sizing is prefect but many have reported heat issues as well as image quality lost after a year of ownership.

For Radar I just picked up a Escort 9500ix Race Edition and its saved me from two tickets so far. Works pretty good however you must remember it is a radar detector and not a cop detector their radar must be on for it to alert you. Its also handy for letting you know where redlight cams are located.

I'm running the Escort 9500IX and just picked up the Blackvue DR400 V2. So far the dashcam is working fine for me.

If you are real serious would be a CB radio.

I have the passport escort 9500IX and couldnt be happier. If you are looking for a gps/radar detector look into the escort IQ.

Valentine 1 for radar detector. It's not the most high tech of all detectors (no gps memory, for example), but it's the standard that all others are compared too. Mine's never missed a speed trap.

I run a Passport 9500ci, which comes with all the bells and whistles, however I would be running a 9500ix if I didn't live in VA and need a fully concealed radar.

Do a search on your favorite search engine. This has really been discussed through and through, and you will need to figure out was works best for you. We all tend to be biased towards what we own, so you need opinions from those who tested both in controlled environments.

I am confused on the camera. I am looking for one so if there is a hit and run in a parking lot I can get a plate....but if the camera is pointed only one way...whats the use?

val 1 has 'directional" arrows that tell you what direction the radar is being picked up! from the side, back, and front.the warning it gives is very long also,
so you have a lot of time to react.
