Cost to replace pads/rotors on AP Racing BBK

I just purchased a lightly owned 2016 BRZ that came with a bunch of modifications, including AP Racing BBK in the front/back. I was originally looking for an unmodified BRZ, but when I came across this one I couldn't resist (I essentially got the mods for free).

Now I'm wondering what I got myself into with respect to maintenance costs. The car only has ~2500km on it, and all of the parts are like new. Eventually, I know I'll have to replace the brake pads and possibly rotors.

What kind of costs am I looking at to replace the pads and/or rotors? Is there a specific brake pad that I have to use from AP Racing, or will other brands fit?

I believe these are the brakes on my car:

Front: https://www.stillen.com/brakes/brake...baru-brz.html#

Rear: https://www.stillen.com/brakes/brake...ubaru-brz.html

Thanks.

That is considered the go-to brake kit for these cars. It's relatively inexpensive and they work fantstic. www.essexparts.com has replacement parts costs, definitely find part numbers on the rotors and calipers so you know which parts match yours before spending any money. Take some pics and post them here if you're unsure, the members will help you sort it out.

Good news, is that their kits are built to withstand FAR more abuse than the stock system, and under such abuse can last far, far longer. The brake pads of the Sprint kit are supposed to be a VERY common shape, so they shouldn't be much (if any) more expensive than aftermarket pads for the OEM brakes. However they should last longer...

If you intend to track, the cost of ownership of the AP kit is actually lower than OEM.

I imagine the brakes will last a nice long time. The only consideration for these brakes, is that since they're designed for track use, they do not have typical dust boots to protect the pistons and seals from the elements. Those dust boots can get roasted and crack after one or two days track use. ANyways, if you live in a wet/cold area, you might want to do some periodic maintenance to ensure the pistons are kept free of corrosion etc. (SS is resistant but not 100% impervious to the elements).

If you're not tracking it they will last quite some time for sure

Thanks for the input. I took the car to a few local shops today, and they confirmed the front brakes are actually 6-piston (I think I posted links to the 4-piston). I assume this won't make much of a difference in the pad cost?

I've have always been a car enthusiast, but never planned on hitting the track. Although now that I have this setup, I may give it a shot...looks like a lot of fun!

BTW I just checked out the link http://www.essexparts.com mentioned above....thank you for that! You were right. The replacement pads/rotors aren't overly expensive...what a relief!

Take a pic, if they're painted and also on the rear of the car it's not the Essex AP Racing Sprint kit that was mentioned earlier. However Essex sells a factory BBK that's painted with dust boots for our cars as well. The Stillen picture is rather generic.

Essex does not sell replacement parts for Stillen AP kits, and Stillen does not sell replacement parts for Essex AP kits.

If you can post a picture, I can tell you *exactly* what you have, and what stuff costs to replace.

CSG is a distributor for both Essex and Stillen AP Racing products.

Here is what I have front/rear. Are there options for pads/rotors tailored more for street use (i.e. longer lasting, less dust, quieter etc.)? Thanks.

Thankd. What do street pads go for on the Stillen kit. I went to their website and I can't figure out which pad fits the BBK.

Aw Mike, I thought youd be able to see that better 6 piston vs 4 piston in the back.
