Experience with 235/40/17 NT01 on 8” vs 9” wheels?

Good day,

I will starting my hpde season with NT01s, which will be the first season with R compound, and use my 225/45/17 PS4s for rain/daily. I’ve mounted the NT01s on 17x8 et45 rpf1s (on which the ps4s were before I got the nt01s), and put the ps4s back on the stock 17x7 wheels for now.

I am looking to get a second pair of wheels, and debating in getting a second set of 17x8 for the ps4s, or get a 17x9 and put the NT01s on them, and the 225 ps4s back on the 17x8.

My goal with the nt01s is not to seek fastest lap time, but rather have the most progressive and balanced set-up. Has anyone had experience running the 235/40/17 nt01s on both 17x8 and17x9 wheels that could share their experience? Which wheel size offers most balanced/progressive setup ? Although rarer, maybe a 17x8.5 for the nittos ?

For example, From the recent tire rack wheel width test using re71rs and rpf1s, the general trend is that as the wheel gets wider the lap times are faster but also becomes less forgiving on wider wheels. In that test with 245/45/17 The 17x8 felt objectively better but not as fast as 17x9. I’m looking for that “feels best” point for the NT01s.
