Protective shipping wrap question
My BRZ is finally set to arrive this weekend or Monday. I've asked the dealer not to wash or detail the car in any way as I do not trust them to wash it properly.
I've gone so far as to say I do not want them to remove the shipping wrap. Should I retract this? Is there any specialized product, equipment, or knowledge needed to unwrap it? If it is just a matter of peeling it off in an environment above freezing I can certainly do that myself. Thanks for any information |

My dealer remove the protective film and didn’t wash it. The adhesive left behind by the edges of the film takes a bit of convincing to remove, but that was the only annoyance for me.

I would imagine they need to remove the wrap to make sure they are not delivering a car with any paint imperfections?
But if you can keep them from washing it, and running tag screws into it (seen too many put on crooked), I'd say that is a win, but also a challenge.. |

I had my dealer take off the protective wrap, but told them not to run the car through their car wash. They hand washed the car for me, plus did not screw anything into the front bumper (as I instructed).

Question for the OP… do you have any plans for ceramic coating, PPF, or other paint treatment by a detailer post delivery?
In my case, I have a trusted detailer I have used for other cars who will be doing paint correction and ceramic coating next week. For that reason alone, I allowed the dealer to “prep” my car without a lot of special instructions. When I picked it up from the dealer, the paint is basically completely covered in micro swirls. It is extremely noticeable on the Magnetite Grey color. I really didn’t freak out because I know my detailer can and will eliminate these. Just my two cents about my dealer experience and my plan moving forward. |

I'll be paint correcting and ceramic coating the car myself as soon as the weather in Manitoba allows it. So, the more scratches the dealer installs the more work I have in front of me. This is my main reason for instructing them not too touch it.

Let the dealer do all the predelivery prep including removing wrap, just ask them not to wash it. You want to give them a chance to thoroughly inspect the car for any flaws/shipping damage before you take delivery.

This is what my car looked like coming off the transport truck.
Swirls aside, I could not tell any noticeable difference in the paint in the areas the wrap was removed. |

I also asked them not to wash it. Ill probably take it to a spray wash place for soap and rinse only so I can install my parts (lips, skirts, spoiler), and then its off to ceramic coat/PPF the next day.
I told them to take the plastic off though, mainly to make it easier for me to spot flaws. |

Looking forward to seeing another 22 on the streets! I've seen a few at the dealers before they've been delivered but yet to see one being driven.
