Narrow drivers seat?

Hi guys,
I have stock (or seemingly stock) seats in my 2013 but the drivers seat is very narrow. The passenger seat is a great fit for me but the drivers seat is too narrow (I'm a fairly big guy) and I don't recall any friends BRZ's or ones that I test drove having such a narrow seat. Was there some factory option or perhaps limited edition the seats could have been swapped from by the previous owner that would explain it?

I'm considering finding someone local to swap with as I can imagine some slimmer people really looking the seat that I've got. I just don't think I'll be losing that much weight any time soon!

Do you have pictures? I also notice a difference in the passenger seat though. Maybe just swap them lol

All the seats are the same. Some have different materials covering them but the actual seats are all identical.

Some have been "broken" in. The center padding has been compressed and makes the seat seem deeper and narrower.

The BRZ seats feels a little less snug because the leather seems to be less rigid than the FRS cloth seats, as backwards as that seems. They are identical though, and difference likely can be attributed to wear.

My seat doesn't seem any deeper but it's SIGNIFICANTLY narrower. If we were talking about bucket seats I'd say this one is a size or a size and a half smaller. I almost wonder if they did get broken in and someone rebuilt them...

Tcoat; if you're coming to Toronto at any point let me know and you can see for yourself and help me with my lack of credibility (due to being new) on these forums ;P

I recall here some thread, where one bent wider side supports of stock seat. Too lazy to search though to link, as for me stock seats fit just fine.

I suggest that you place a cushion (or cushioning) on the back and bottom sections to raise you a bit up above the bolsters and see if that is more comfortable.

Something like this (which worked for me in my MX5).

I appreciate suggestions (really I do) and I notice that I've perhaps been a bit short in my replies to this thread.

In regards to your suggestion; the bottom of the seat is fine. It's really more around the kidney area that's too tight. I could put something in on the back except that I need to bolsters when I take the car to the track, and being 6'2" there's not a lot of additional space for me in this thing (especially with the helmet on).

I'm probably either going to swap the seats with someone (seriously, they're significantly narrower than any others I've sat in) or do what this guy did and try bending the loops:

Well, you might try something like this on the back and just take it out when you go to the track -

If it is that easy to bend there is always a chance someone bent them the other way. I bet if you placed your feet on the floor and rolled your back you could make the seat more to your liking without having to fuss with digging through all that material.

Or you could use it to get an FIA approved carbon fiber seat. For safety.
