ANOTHER FR-S Headlight Question.

How are they? Honestly. I'm in the market for a BRZ/FR-S, and the FR-S is looking better for me. Cheaper, more available, better looking. But the only downside seems to be the headlights, are they really that bad?

Like enough to buy a BRZ over the FR-S bad? I appreciate your responses y'all.

They don't seem bad to me, but I have never actually owned a car with HIDs. You can always get the retro fit kit for $300 and it has been getting great reviews.

They're not that bad. They get the job done. I honestly expected worse before I got the car.

Nothing wrong with the headlights on the FR-S.
Sure it was one of the many reasons (Leather bolster seats, HID, Foglights, Spoiler, Smart-Key...etc) why I chose the BRZ over the FR-S...but definitely not the only reason.

What really made me go with Subaru are the standard features and the two trim packages they offer. Obviously, I took advantage of this and went with the Sport-Tech package!

P.S. The "angel eyes LED" accent looks awesome with the HID/DRL combo...and don't forget about the foglights!

Hope this helps.

My 03 Evo had HIDs but I sold that in 06 and haven't had them since.

I do want them and will be getting the retrofit kit to do it right.

The other night I drove some family home after dinner in my aunt's Ford Edge. That thing is very nicely equipped. Big props to Ford in recent years.

It had HIDs. I noticed the difference of course due to a slight difference in color and the way they start up. However, I dropped everyone off at my aunt's house and immediately got in my car to head home so I paid close attention to the difference in what I could see.

Honestly, I was surprised at how not disappointed I was. The FR-S halogen projectors are not bad. The light cut off is very smooth and I can see well. The light could be a little brighter but I would not say they are bad in the least. I only feel that way because I WANT HIDs. I don't need them.

Agreed. For halogen headlights, they are quite good. Obviously compared to HIDs they are going to suck, but you already knew that. I do miss the way HIDs make street signs 10x brighter though.

I guess i'm one of the only people that doesn't like the GT86 headlights or BRZ headlights with the LED strips. The headlights look too busy.

The stock halogen bulbs were definitely not as bad as I thought they would be. With that said, the market is full of different aftermarket HID kits now, that it's easy to find one that fits your budget. And there's a lot of room to neatly tuck away the ballast

But always remember, you get what you pay for.

As for looking awesome, the subtle accents that BRZ and FT86 have just make it just more aesthetically pleasing. Regardless on which model you end up choosing, I can guarantee you'll be happy in the end.

I was left unimpressed with my '07 GTI's HIDs. My reflector 4Runner headlights light up the road better. The reflector headlights on our MINI are shit. It really comes down to how well the headlight is designed, not whether it is HID, projector, etc.

My Prius has LED headlights.
