Hey guys, new to the forum, and I don't have much of substance to talk about in terms of my car 'yet', but after the last year of driving my car I've came to the odd observations of street habits of some other drivers.
First off, I would like to say that I'm typically not an ego driver, or one to attempt confrontation on the road. Of course some things I do, and I would guess some other sporty car drivers do can make it seem like you are trying to show off or get attention. Oh, and I used to drive a 2010 sonata exclusively before, so these are stand out experiences from driving that for so long. Anyways, some of the things I've noticed have been mildly annoying to out right obnoxious. -tl/dr I try to pass a van, and they speed up, as if to keep me from passing. cruising around doing business on a two lane road, and I'm behind this van going like 3 miles under the speed limit (45), and I'm like,"this is annoying",so I down shift, and begin to pass. I look over to pass at like 48mph, and they are matching speed. Annoying.... I speed up, and try to get distance to pass, and they speed up more. At this point I just gun it around them (with ample distance to not scare them) and take my left turn lane. (I've had multiple instances like this, that just make me think this is just something people do to people that drive things like this, or maybe I'm just being crazy...) (also I've had these variations of this on highways, but this has happened in my sedan too haha) -tl/dr residential area, another car coming in opposite direction. They take up the center of the road, and take up most of the road, forcing me to move out of their way (on a wide road). (I understand this can happen to probably anyone, but it just kind of feels like there is another reason *shrug* I notice it way more with cars that are low end or whatever...) Driving on a residential road, the roads are decently sized enough for two cars to pass each other comfortably, and this beat up car, or some lower end sedan usually will move from their comfy side of the road, and drift into the almost center of the road, forcing me to move uncomfortably close to the other side. (I drive in a residential area pretty often, but not commonly. It's just something dumb I've noticed, and am curious if it's just me.) Most other instances of weird road ego I've encountered were more general, and happened while i was in my sedan before this. Thanks for reading! Has anything like this happened to you before, or something like it? |

There are assholes everywhere. My community does not have wide residential streets and with people parking on the side of the street, only one direction can pass at a time. Often, impatient drivers tend to 'force' their way through so you have to stop even if you have the right-of-way. If a car is parked on the same side of the road that you are on and another car is coming from the opposite direction, they have the right-of-way. Unfortunately, most do not see it that way. Personally, I will continue forward slowly and force others to back up if the parked car is on their side of the road.
Sometimes, the best defensive driving is offensive driving but not every time.

Are you new to driving (serious question)? I've experienced everything you've stated while driving multiple types of vehicle not just in one of my twins. I've always seen it in every state I've live, and every country I've driven in , except Germany .

Hello and welcome to the forum.....
![]() Maybe the vans are speeding up just to get a better, longer look at your fine car ....... I suggest you just stay behind them ...... they will likely turn off soon ...... ![]() As far as the road hogs ...... that's just the way people seem to drive ..... ![]() As long as they leave you enough road for your car to fit on, let em have the rest. humfrz |

People are selfish assholes, and the requirements to get a driver's license in most states are laughable. You should see how people drive here in Hawaii, it's painful to watch. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |

The government here is committed to cars being as "safe" as possible and not training drivers.
An advanced driving course should be compulsory for all new drivers! |

There is a function on the left stalk that you just pull back on called "flash to pass". Maybe try that first.
If you are trying to pass on the right lane then of course the car in front would fuck with you but what's the big deal. The BRZ is just a cheap sports car nothing special really at least around here. Does your car look rice? |
