Figured I should start one of these since I have started dropping cash on the car. Purchased November 2013, MT. Plans with the car somewhere around 400hp with e85 on a stock block. Mods installed; RPF1s 17x9 + 35 in Silver 245/40/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports TOM's tails FT86 Speed Factory Battery tray 11.5lb Braile (in use for almost 2 years zero issues) Racer X Catch can (single for now) OFT and Flex Fuel tune (beta still) Flex fuel Kit (sensor and all that) Weight reduction (removal of various crap in car) Grimspeed Master Cylinder Brace Seibon CF Hood Mods sitting at home in the boxes still; 4.88 FD (Selling Now) Second Diff Carrier All them bearings and shiz for the swap (Selling Now) Whiteline Diff bushing inserts SB8-XTSS Clutch/Flywheel combo Stainless Steel Brake lines Mishimoto Radiator (Selling Now) Spare OEM Disks Stoptech Pads for front and rear 2nd Racer X Oil Catch Can RT700 Brake Fluid 75w90 GL-4 Trans fluid Future Plans; PTuning Turbo kit, haven't decided on the size of the turbo yet PTuning Header (In on the group buy now!) PTuning Oil Cooling kit New Battery Tiedown kit. (Will go over why later) Injectors (800CC or so) AEM Boost/AFR gauge Oil Temp/Pressure gauge Gauge solution Engine Mounts/Bushings Coils (Probs KWv3) Possible 2017 Manifold, based on gains. Sell the OFT and pick up an ECUTEK or a full stand alone. Koyo Radiator Some of these parts are left over from when I wanted to do just an N/A build. I came from a 400WHP tC to a sub 200 FR-S, so I wasnt really impressed. I ended up buying 2 bikes. A 2005 CBR 600RR and a 2014 Daytona 675R. Both are now gone. So what changed my mind from N/A to going boost? Honestly...the E85. I've basically set myself at ~1k a month for mods, and have decided to do all of the Supporting stuff first. Current stuff I am trying to work out; -Where do I want to route the Oil Press/Temp gauge. Not an issue, talked with PTuning, the block with the oil filter will be fine, I am not tracking my car I shouldn't see high temps anyway. -Get a new battery tray. The FT86 Speed Factory one does not work with the Racer X V2 catch cans. The place where the tie-downs go, coupled with the angle of the rods that secure it in place just simply do not work. Its no fault of either company...but now we know! -Gauge Pods; Do I want to replace my 2u stereo with a 1u and put my gauges there, or put them on my steering column? Any little tips I come up with while doing this will be noted here, hopefully the helps people get the answers they want! I will respond to questions, feel free to ask

Got a lead CF Seibon Hood last night. Is $600 + my OEM. Not a bad deal, the hood scoops are 'functional' as they are holes. but I do not think they will actually add any cooling.
Headed to the bank today, going to get a signature loan for some more parts, and to give myself more breathing room in case of an emergency. Looks like May sometime I will head up to VA for PTuning to have their way with my FR-S. Last edited by Rougenite; 03-26-2017 at 09:49 PM. |

Giving some honest feedback on the Brake Master Cylinder Brace;
I feel no change in the brakes at all. I wrenched that thing down pretty damn hard. It may have some uses on the track or under heavy brake use but for a DD its just not doing anything for me. The only bling factor to it is the big red 'Button' that is pushed up against the master cylinder. Could get it powder coated to be more noticeable, but I will probably just remove it and sell for cheap. Side note; didn't latch my hood all the way down, everything held up at 80mph, guess that is a good thing. No damage to hood or latch that I could see. |

As far as the hood goes, that's what the safety latch is for :P

I have nothing against Grimspeed, just have no reason to keep the brace. Take it off for weight reduction...like 3 lbs or something. Damn I need to get a good scale. |

May ditch going with Ptuning due to the cost of getting everything I need, the 23 hour drive one way and subsequent week off for the quoted install time.
5900 for GT2871R 1200 Fueling/MAP/ECUTEK with dongle/cable so I can get etuned for E85. 700 for gauges and mounting. 3-4 days install time. Looking at 8k without labor, travel, misc item cost. As much as I love PTuning and their amazing kits, I just cant stomach the possible 10k for just a baseline kit. Back to doing research on the rest of the kits out there! |

Got some more stuff in on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Picked up a new clutch fork, the pivot bolt thing for it and all the clips/retainers to put it in the Trans. Car has been in the shop today to get the Clutch and LW Flywheel put in, so I am swapping all that out. The Clutch fork was ordered from FT86 Speedfactory, made by Velox. Instructions that came with it were basically non existent. One thin sheet of paper. It is pretty easy to do though, so not a big deal The Pivot was also ordered from FT86 and made by Velox. Tq it to 12lbs. -Nobody local wants to buy the 4.88, might be willing to ship it out. -Need to pay for the other half of the PTuning header. -I have grown to HATE the CF hood I got. May but a different one...with actual ducting and sell the one I have currently. Reviews for the clutch + Flywheel VS stock and fluid change from stock to 75w90 GL-4 Trans fluid incoming! |

So, partly my fault I guess...but the shop didnt put the Velox fork in. Made a thread to see if I can get answers on when they started to fail.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2900909 The FW does give some decel chatter starting at around 3k. Its not terrible. If I grab a gopro this weekend I will get a vid. Exhaust is all stock too, so itll be easy to hear! The engagement point is...1/4 inch from the floor, holy shit I gotta learn to drive again. Re-adjustments will need to be made. (DIY http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8040) It does take more effort to depress the pedal than stock by about 30% effort. I don't sit in a load of traffic, so it wont be too bad. Butt dyno; I can 'feel' a difference in 3rd gear pulls, especially in the higher rev range (thanks e85). Thats about it. I'm sure it is faster, but I was riding around in a buddies v6 mustang most of the day. so my car felt miles better soon as i got in :P Fluid change; Shit just seems notchy. Worse than stock. I used to have an issue that if i was cruising at 60-63 mph and downshifted into 5th it would grind/notch in. Now it does it any time I go into 5th above 50, unless I double clutch or blip the throttle. Might need to do some adjustments, or I could start my argument with Scion to get it fixed. They owe me for leaving my Oil cap off after a change anyway. |
