Small damage

Just yesterday someone made an illegal u turn and almost t-boned me but luckily I swerved and I only got clipped. The damage seems to be small. Take a look at the pictures and tell me what you guys would do? Whether it is smarter to just let the poor guy off and not file for insurance or should I make a claim? I was trying to fix some curb damage too in the same general area too, so I was going to file for that under my own collision.Name: 20170419_082643.jpg

That could cost way more than you think. I would hold them to paying.
Don't use insurance to fix curb rash! It can raise your rate since it is an "at fault" claim and just could not be worth it in the long run.

Yup, let the guy pay for the damages via his insurance.

I guess I am confused on where the "poor guy" is? He mad the illegal U-turn...He caused the accident..Sure its an accident and may be great guy but I still wouldn't be letting anyone of the hook for that. You can certainly work out a cash exchange and avoid the insurance companies but still you should be compensated somehow and def get it professionally quoted before agreeing to any amount of compensation either from him or his insurance.

Umm what? You want to screw yourself over royally to benefit someone else...someone else who 'wrong'd' you...? Where were you when I hit a pole a few weeks ago, we could've said you hit me.

Well I filed a claim today but after some pouring rain last night, the damage looks even more insignificant. Hopefully the adjuster will think it needs a repaint or something..lol

That's like a $300 repair at a body shop, why would you make an insurance claim for it?

...Because the OP wasn't at fault and the other driver (or their insurance) should pay.

Now if you can work something out with the other driver that doesn't involve the insurance company, that's fine. I've done that in the past (3 occasions I can think of off the top of my head), holding in reserve that I could always file with the other driver's insurance if they don't pay up.
