Subaru BRZ premium fog lights

On the BRZ premium it does not come with fog lights, behind the trunk release button and dimmer there is a connector that has been taped off, is this the plug for the stock fogs on the limited model? I also looked in the cabin fuse box and I have the fuses installed for the fog lights, however the LED driver running lights on the premium do not have the pig tail connector that goes to the stock fogs. My question is to get a stock setup would you need the "limited" Driver running lights and a new turn signal stalk to get the fogs to work and have an indication on the instrument cluster that the fog lights are on?

Presuming they are the same set up as the FRS ones yes the plug works. The switch isn't on the stalk on the FRS though. Are you sure it is on the BRZ?

Well I would guess that the connection would be the same so a FRS button set up should work. Be a pile easier than redoing a stalk.

On the brz limited it is on the stalk, the premium has a different stalk and is missing the pigtail on the daytime running lights, ultimately I'm trying to figure out how to get the fog light indication light on the cluster to work without having to change the stalk. Anyone know what wire controls this indication?

Read the FRS thread I linked. It makes the light work even though the stalk is not used. Many of the cars have the same wiring with the unused portions just taped up. Cheaper to put the wiring in all of them and build as needed then to pick what does and does not need it installed.

I bought the OEM fog light kit and installed it on my premium model. In the kit you will receive new daytime running lights and the fog light housing. There will be a round on and off switch you have to drill a hole into the trunk release, dimmer panel to install. It's all plug and play except for the 1 inch hole you have to make for the switch.

How much was that kit? I keep thinking I need to do that. The last few days we've had some serious fog and they sure would have been handy to have.

The fog lights on the BRZ (at least on my 2013 year) are useless.

My wife's 2005 Forester fog lights are far superior.

I paid around ~240?, I will have to check my email to give you the exact price. It was really easy to install, I didn't even have to remove the bumper or the wheels.

Sadly true. Just decoration. I replaced the bulbs with much brighter yellow LEDs from Diode Dynamics and I get a little more useful light for fog, but replacing the entire setup with real fog equipment is the only way to get real performance.

It's only money.

Yep, factory fogs are only 24w and not even visible that they're on from the drivers's seat. Only way you'd know they were on is the indicator on the dash.

TRS LED fog assembles fixed that for me...
