I believe that Porsche 911 R took some ideas from the BRZ RA (bare bones) car.

It's odd he keeps repeating the 911R isn't meant to be a track car as if it's going to be a fish out of water once it sets foot on a road course. Maybe relative to a GT3 RS it's not a track car, but the 911R is definitely more track-focused than 99% of the cars out there. The options list includes an AC delete for goodness sake. The car was clearly designed to see some track duty.

That said, both cars are great. I'd take a GT3 RS over either of them though.

The R isn't that bare bones and Porsche has made stripper models long before the BRZ was a glint in anyones eyes so I really don't think that's a valid statement..

I believe that Porsche 911 R took some ideas from modern expensive mechanical watches.

Who knew manual transmissions would one day become upscale limited editions. Those funny European marketers are at it again.

That reminds me I gotta go wind up my cheap Seiko mechanical diver.

They were saying that spring rates are focused for road driving. It is missing also a rear wing for downforce. I think that tires are also thinner.

Again it's not a GT3 RS, but it's still more track-focused than 99% of the cars out there. Most of the cars Harris slides around the track are less track-focused than the 911R but I haven't seen him bring that up. Any car that comes standard with center locking wheels and carbon ceramic brakes (and has an AC delete on the options list) was designed for some track work.
