Backup Camera Kit Doesn't Work

I ordered this kit http://www.ebay.com/itm/301480588229...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I tapped into the reverse trigger wire and ran the wire to pin 2 in the connector. All the other connection pieces were connected per the "rough/basic instructions" however, camera doesn't work. Literally nothing happens. From research, it seems like the reverse wire to the pin 2 is the most likely culprit. I didn't have a connector to go into pin 2, so it's just the wire clamped down in there. Still doesn't work.

Contacted eBay guy (originally asking for a proper connector for pin2) who put me in contact with his technician. Technician said two things which I haven't heard anyone on here say. One he said, grab the reverse light from the trunk...not exactly sure what he meant, but he said not to tap into at the box on the drivers floor, then run that wire to pin2 up front. Two, he said the camera needs power and to connect to the cig lighter or some big thick black/blue wire running into the head unit. I've never heard of anyone doing either of these two things nor seen it in any of the guides. Help?
Thanks

He's saying tap the power wire for ur reverse lights for pin 2 bc it works the same way as the wire u r tapping when shifted in reverse. For the camera itself u need to wire to ACC power bc if the camera isn't on (powered on, not visible on ur radio) when the radio boots up ur trigger for it to show up won't work bc the radio didn't see it on the boot up check

^Thanks. I'll check out how the camera is getting power. For some reason I just figure it was grabbing power from one of the connecting pieces and the instructions didn't say anything specific about it. So it doesn't seem I need to tap the reverse wire in the trunk, I would rather not have to take apart everything to route the wire again.

Are you sure you are connecting to the right reverse trigger wire?
See this post: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=20

And instructions here:http://autoharnesshouse.com/19867_add.html

Use a multimeter or test light to verify that the trigger wire is providing 12V when you shift the car into reverse.

Just to close this out. Got the camera to work, had to run an additional wire form the camera to the cigg lighter to get power (&grounded it). At first the reverse lights were always on but was able to figure that out. Ebay instructions were no bueno but through this site and google I figured it out..
