OEM Struts Lifetime?

I was wondering if someone knows a good average lifespan of the oem struts? I know it varies greatly of course. Also, how do you check?

You'll know it when you'll feel it.
Harder ride, odd sounds, clanks, and bangs.
If you want you can do the tests the repair manual calls out for. But, almost 99% of the time you'll feel it. Just like a low tire or a flat.

OEM struts can have an average lifespan of 60,000 miles. Their performance decreases gradually. Overall, they last longer than high quality aftermarket coilovers. This is achieved by a small tradeoff in performance. Their main disadvantage is that you cannot rebuild them.

"Average" is totally meaningless.

They will last until they break and not one minute longer.

When I get a car, I always get another set of stock takeoff struts to have laying around for if and when.

I've seen struts last 40k, and struts go 120k without blowing.

I'm at 53k and not sure of the condition of my struts. I feel every single bump but I also have 40 psi in my tires.

Its easy to check if they dampen properly. Open the trunk, push down hard on the beefy bar structure by the latch, and see if the car bounces. It shouldn't. It should give and come right back up and not bounce. In the front push down on a significant structure under the hood and check for the same.

Video for clarification:
