Driving around town in my precious brz, it was around 10 pm and I somehow manage to hit a large pot-hole/ditch in the ground. This was near Finley market in cincinnati so not alot of street lights around. No airbags was deployed!!!
Damages : front passenger Wheel looked pushed back damage LCA? Not 100% sure Bumper cracked Engine undercarriage bent inwards (seems like no damage to engine) ![]() right rear side panel bent upwards damage ballpoint Steering wheel was crooked I brought it into a shop just to get an alignment so far the steering wheel is straight but there is alot of vibrations coming from that wheel. This will be my first time filing a claim under pot-hole/at fault accident. my question is that how would this work out? I don't think that theyll totaled the car like my old frs. If anyone who have been through at fault claims could give me some details on how the process works, that would great! I also have quite a few hail damage on the car, should i mention this if the claim gets approved? |

Damn, sounds like suspension took a big hit. Good to know that everyting else seems ok thou. I don't have any knowledge on how to claim this kind accident but i think you should definitely mention about the hail dmg too...

About a year ago when I was driving a 328i I hit a dead deer on the highway while I was coming home. It was around 9 pm and there were no cars around me. The deer was at the top of a crescent right in the middle of the lane I was in. The result of the crash was a front bumper replacement, new radiator and skid plate, washer bottles, and an alignment.
When I called Geico they told me I would be given no fault for the accident. After all was said and done I paid about a third of what I was expecting to pay. In your case, if you describe to them how it was extremely dark outside and you did not see the pothole at all they will probably not fault you. Really sorry about your BRZ. I hope everything turns out ok. |

You've likely bent the wheel slightly and damaged the control arm, there's a good chance the suspension is wacked, I wouldn't drive it much beyond in town for errands until you have it looked at closely.

To be clear, the deer was already dead. He wasn't moving. In that sense my scenario is similar to OP's. |

What about submitting a claim to whatever agency is supposed to take care of roads in your area? Did you immediately take pictures of the pothole and of the damage also recognizably showing your damaged car in the area where the pothole is?

I'd contact the agency anyway, tell them what happened, that you expect them to pay for the damage, just to figure out what their procedures are, etc. |
