Thoughts on the Photo....

I've had several aftermarket exhausts on several different cars. I've not seen this before.

Any thoughts on why my right side tip (Manzo exhaust) is getting this carbon build-up and the left side is spotless? Left side is straight through to the mid-pipe. Right side is slipped on with a clamp. No other mods except for a K&N drop-in filter.

Hope the picture shows up!

Almost a straight shot to the right while the left has a tight bend. Free-flowing mufflers. I doubt there's much of anything going out the left side.

Looks kinda of like a reflection. Otherwise, it could be from running rich.

I noticed that too. Guess I paid $300 for materials and labor and $10 for the Engineering! Imagine that.

No refection. Physical build-up. Wouldn't think it would be running rich. 6k on the odometer. All stock programming and hardware. K&N gets cleaned about every month.

My guess is the exhaust is taking the path of least resistance which is the right pipe\muffler. I doubt you have any issues beyond that. Both of my mufflers have equal build-up. In your case, one muffler is doing the work of one and a half or two so it looks like something is wrong.

I would have an exhaust shop re-build the split joint and hopefully you can fix the horrible fitment/alignment issue in the process.

inside of exhaust is dirty. Condensation can build up inside exhaust. When you run the car, the water gets pushed out the tail pipes, drips off the edge, and gets the tip dirty. (yeah it does).

Like others said the right said is the path of least resistance for exhaust flow so the right side gets more through it and will be more dirty. Look ag other dual set-ups and one side is always dirtier

These cars run rich so carbon buildup is guaranteed.

Manzo is not a brand known for their engineering so symetrical exhaust flow was not guaranteed. Apparently neither is fitment.

I have an oil cooler from CX Racing that has multiple quality issues.

Live and learn.

Thanks guys for the input. The flow path makes sense and I didn't know the build-up was a common occurrence. I was just wondering if anybody else had experienced this.

I knew a discounted exhaust was not going to be a "Quality" item. I'm an OEM Quality Engineer in the Automotive industry. The car even started out questionable with the dealer applying the (free) Rally stripes, so I'm not too concerned with the asthetics. I simply received and installed what Manzo sent me.

This is more of a track car than a daily driver. The bad-fitment exhaust provides me more immediate feedback on engine position. That serves the purpose of why I bought it.

So, as I appreciate the input on how the tips look coming out the back, I could not care less. I am well aware, and, like I said.... I'm fresh out.

But I do honestly thank you guys who helped me understand this situation a little bit more. Probably saved me a trip to the dealer's service dept.

Thanks again guys.
Shane
