Fram Air Filter...Is it me or what?

Pretty easy task to change an air filter. Tried to toss in a new Fram air filter and 45 minutes later had to give up and put the old one back in.

There a trick to this? Dont buy Fram products?

What didn't work about it? Never tried Fram but my TRD one is about a 3 minute operation to pull and replace (after cleaning not new one)

I'm not sure what the FRAM filter looks like, however the APEXi filter that I dropped in the airbox didn't just fall in as I expected it would. I did have to wrestle it a bit. It's just a tight fit, and it takes some patience. Take a break and take another crack at it.

BINGO!

Fram products are cheap garbage with bad quality control. I wouldn't run anything they make in any of my vehicles. In fact, the warranty on the crate stroker in my Jeep specifically states that warranty work will be denied if I run a Fram oil filter because they are known to collapse and starve the engine of oil.

They make cheap crap for people who don't know any better and are just looking for the lowest price. Stick with a quality brand instead.

My k&n was kind of similar. It didn't take 45 minutes, but it did take a few times standing back and looking at it to figure out why I had to wrestle it in there... But +1 on the don't buy fram thing.

It is kind of hard to screw up because there is a unique corner to the filter.

Sure looks different than the factory part.

Think I will just pick up a filter at Toyota. The 30 bucks of so that Canadian Tire charged me is not worth how aggravated I will be if I waste another half hour and don't get the thing in. Don't buy Fram. I knew that for oil filters.

Spend the extra and get the TRD one (Toyotatown does not stock them though) you will not regret it.

Basically any aftermarket one. Most are nearly identical. Pick the company/colours you want and go from there. I got an HKS cause I'm too cheap to buy any of their other stuff, plus it's lime green.

Didn't I read something about HKS air filters disintegrating? I am not sure if it was a certain one or what.
