Car Theft Concern

We have all heard about the limited production of the BRZs (at least in 2012)... Is anyone else concerned about the potential of this car becoming a car thieves target?

With modern features like transponder keys & such the only way to steal this car will be towing. Just like with any other car if a thief wants it there's really nothing you can do other than leave it places you trust.

Not sure if there was a problem with R35 GT-Rs being stolen back in 09, but if there were I'd imagine it would be similar to this. I don't see it being a huge issue but it's anyone's guess...just don't leave it in shady places.

So this one's going to have the immobilizer/transpoder key thing, right? It'll also have a basic alarm too, I hope?

But yah, if they really want it, they'll take it. Doesn't matter how many layers of auto security you put in. Just make sure your insurance is good.

STI gets stolen a bunch, I'd expect it to be similar. Worst case scenario it'll be as hot as an Integra. Any car can get stolen, just do your best to minimize how attractive your car is.

no kidding right? haha.

i think FR-S owners may have a little more to worry about since their cars will be far more common place than the BRZ (at least initially). get the right aftermarket security system and you'll be A-OK.

Any modded Honda owner knows what it's like to constantly worry about your car being stolen. I have cameras installed monitoring my driveway, constantly worried about someone stealing my EJ.

i know nothing can stop a determined thief. Just hate seeing that it becomes one of those cars that kids love to mess with. I used to have a honda civic... got stolen and broken into in separate incidents. I don't want to go back to those days when I have to worry about it. Now I have a much better car, but it's a relief knowing kids aren't interested in it.

True. I think it has more to do with the crowd than the car itself. If this becomes a tuner icon & young shitheads who don't respect other's property become huge fans, the theft rate will skyrocket. Mostly the reason Hondas are such big targets, the fanbase & the fact all the parts are interchangeable on so many model years.

I've never heard of an STi getting stolen, 05+ all have immobilizer keys. So the only way you are taking it is with the key or dragging it off.

Lo-Jack? E-Brake? maybe leave it in 1st, and get one of those steering wheel lock things. Oh and those Viper brand keys that shut the car off remotely...

Yup. Living in SoCal, and moving to the hood soon, I may have to get an aftermarket alarm system if the stock one is sucky. Horn honks are sooo generic.
