Perrin 3" Resonated - Going Turbo
Hey Guys. I have a few questions. I recently bought a 2020 BRZ PP.
Ordered a JDL Turbo kit (GTX2867R) with EL Manifold. I also plan on going with a full 3" exhaust system (tuner's recommendation). I have also ordered the resonated (single) over/front pipe combo from JDL and finishing it off with a 3" Perrin resonated catback system. Since the JDL parts are 4 weeks out and the Perrin system was already in. I decided to put the system on and I do not like it. Remember I am currently fully stock. At idle: the system is very close to stock, not obnoxious at all. Going up in the revs: the system is deep but definitely has drone. Going down in the revs: the system has uber high levels of drone. My question: Will the system sound totally different after the turbo kit and over/front pipe are installed. Is there a chance all the drone is just due to having a 3" system on a stock header & front pipe??? If anyone has a turbo kit and is running the perrin system I would love to hear your feedback. Interesting you might be the only person i know off that is experiencing drone from the Perrin exhaust either that or something is wrong with your install. Make sure everything is tight and check the vband connections.
Yes once you put the turbo it will sound different usually putting on a turbo quiets things down slightly ,but since you're installing an EL header and the OP/FP im sure it will have a good tolerable sound shouldn't be obnoxious. The car will sound different; a turbo is like a muffler. Just be patient and wait to see how it sounds

Ok so update. Finally got my full JDL kit in last week and installed this week. The install was fairly straight forward and am very happy with the gains. Unfortunately the exhaust still has a horrible drone from 2750-3400...
Any other recommendations of exhaust systems?? Would like to stay 3” or 2.75”. Don’t mind louder as long as there isn’t drone. |

I have the same setup as you except I went with the dual res FP/OP. Personally its just right for me.
I've heard a slightly quieter catback is the CSG one but that does step down to 2.75" https://www.counterspacegarage.com/c...tition-exhaust Heres a quick dyno pull with my exhaust

I currently have the perrin 3inch on my turbo BRZ. No resonators in my "front pipe"
3400 rpm does have some drone, but it's much better than my Tomei I previously had |
