Nitto NT01 on stock wheels
Thinking about running NT01s on a 2nd set of OEM wheels I have for this upcoming track season, 225/45/17 specifically. Currently have 215/45/17 RE-71Rs on them that probably have one track day on them left.
Was wondering if anyone has run the same setup before, any kind of feedback/input is appreciated ![]() |

Most of our guys run rs3s z221s or nt01s. Admitidly not on stock wheels but they are a great tyre. Like most semis they are fat but a 225 should t be to bad. They are better than a rs3 but not as good as a z221 in my experience. Wonderful tyres at a great price. Very forgiving and give nice feedback. We cant get re71s (we cant grt most tyres in fact. We import nt01s from japan) in aus but they may be slightly better when new. But both 215s and 225s should be plenty of tyre for some fun.

Thanks for the feedback! Was more concerned about the 225s being too much for the stock wheel as they may pinch since they run wider than street tires.

They're not, but I would recommend you run 215/45/17.

Thank you for your feedback! Any reason in particular why you'd recommend opting for the OEM size over 225/45/17?

Better feedback. Stiffer sidewall from the profile. For that tyre on a NA car (I'm assuming) you'll have alot of grip. It'll be better to learn the car with and if you feel the need you can get some 225s on wider wheels later on. I've done a few track days with Fairly average 225 tyres with a turbo and I really learned a ton about car control both on entry and exit of the corners. The 255s I run normally give me a ton more lap time but really punish if you don't use them correctly from scrubbing off speed.

I cant wait to get my NT01's on. I opted to get 225/45r/17 on 17x8 wheels.
