Yomny's whiteout build.
I've never done one of these build threads so my layouts may be off but i figured with all the money going into this car and the money that's still to be dumped i figured i would start.
Got the car Jan 28th of 2014, it is my second FRS owned since these badboys came out. I had an argento back in 2013 but traded the car for an STi due to lack of power and stupid frustration, whish i hadn't. I took it easy on the modding part for the first half a year then i dont know what happened but all hell broke loose and ended up turbo. I'm really into the whole track day/auto x no so much deal but honestly speaking i cant afford it as much as i would love to attend more. I love cars and simply driving a machine i could flaunt, not speed, race or show off, just be proud of. Current setup Exterior TOM's JDM tail lamps Diode Dynamics 5k hid kit JonMotoring lip Wheels/Suspension ST coilovers Rota Titan 17x9 +42 Nitto NT555 255/40 Whiteline F/R swaybar endlinks Camber 2F/2.6R Engine JDL Turbo kit 10psi Precision 4854 yeah i know its small but it does nice. Invidia Q300 catback Motive HFC front pipe Tomei overpipe Brakes Track pads - Poject Mu HC+800 Street- oem/stoptech street performance but removed because of dust. Ate brake fluid Upcoming Raceseng cascam plates (ordered) Hotchkis front/rear sway kit (ordered) SPC rear lca (ordered) Stock ![]() First things first, being into tracking your ride.. you flush the brakes with some ATE or similar and go to the track your first time with OEM pads because you cant wait for upgraded pads or in my case you just cant afford a track day and pads lol. I have to admit this car is fun, just fun to drive, its the reason why i got a second one. ![]() ![]() Then installed my suspension/coilovres. I really wanted lower the car, not slam it just slower to give it a bit more of a sporty stance and tighter feeling overall. The ST coilovers aren't the best and we all know that but they sure as hell are worth the $700 you could get them for. After coilover isntallation. ![]() ![]() ![]() I wasn't crazy about power because understood the car wasn't meant to be powerful but fun. So i got my ecutek to help with the DI seal issues and fine tune the machine, also aid with the idle dip situation. That went well but at the same time, it went horribly bad as the power mod bug bit and did so hard... Before jumping to the power, i had to get wheels.. the car dropped with stock sunken wheels didnt look proper. ![]() ![]() Now i felt as if it was unbalance and given that i had my oem lip installed at the dealer i needed something in the front, some sort of mustache.. Then again being a married man that i am and not being able to through so much money at "just a car" i had to get one of those plastic lips.. hella of a price for $150 came shipped in a full size box, not all bent like some other ones and its as sturdy as it could be. Couldn't be happier till today. Now what was it that i needed...? oh yeah. .power.. ![]() I started to look around.. and the first thing that came to mind was boost!! but wait i can't afford 4K+ for a kit.. so lets say you want to go NA all the way lol. I got the best headers i could afford, Ptuning as i had understood these were the way to go. I got them after selling my AR15 and a week or so later these bad boys were in there rasping like a mofo.. got it along with motive HFC front pipe to avoid rasp and noise and a pretty nice looking yet cheap tomei overpipe. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Needless to say, this thing was beautifull but damn they made noise.. i always forget NA equals rasp.. Decided i had to get my Invidia q300 as i wanted the titanium tip look and this was known as the quietest exhaust.. and it sure deserves that reputation.. sometimes i forget i have one even with the turbo. ![]() ![]() ![]() After the full exhaust and the tune.. the car was compeltely different. It had a lot more low end torque and a whole lot more top end.. it screamed up top.. but was still missing that every day midrange torque in the dreaded torque dip valley.. betweeen 3-4k. This was all around Christmas new years eve.. when JDL decided to give a good 15% off their kit and got me selling more stuff to jump on it.. So i did, sold my beatifull header after a couple of weeks to a fellow board memeber and ordere my kit.. before the end of January this thing was already handing in there making noise. This is no easy install but JDL kit is a very complete one. I got it with their fan shroud which retains the coolant reservoir and hold the fans in place nicely. I opted for the titanium coating to help keep temps down. Got my self a catch can to help it breath better and on it went.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well the car is up and running and i couldn't be happier.. I'm waiting for my boost wideband guage to better tune the ecu and a boost controller to increase the pressure as im running on the 7psi wastegat spring which to me starts opening as soon as 2psi and its pretty annoying and loud. This is my daily driver, monday-friday so it needs to be up and running all the time. Well not to my surprise as i knew it was coming, about two weeks on boost and my clutch is starting to slip on higher hears(high load). I'm saving for an ACT clutch and the install as i dont have the knowledge or tools to tackle on that myself and i need it done quick. So up next would be my clutch and more boost with proper tuning. Hope you've enjoyed till now and i'll keep it coming. Plenty more mods to come as i now need more stopping power and cooling. I'm eyeing the full blown oil cooler and the AP brake kit. As it sits. ![]()

Haven't don't much recently besides tuning and settling on a boost level(10psi). Car's running great and am now moving on to some suspension bits that I watned to take care of, camber plates, rear control arms and some sway bars. I think the car desperately needs a set of sways, nothing too aggressive, after the nitto 255's where installed. The grip was greatly increased so the cars feels elastic(rolls) when given sharp steering input. I'll update with pics soon enough. I also tried to install a short K&N filter right onto the turbo inlet to soon find out this part gets wayyy too hot for the soft rubber compound used on K&N to handle. The clamps sliced through the filter like a hot nice through butter.
