Motorcycles
Hey guys, I know some of you ride so I hope you can help me out.
I always wanted a motorcycle, all my cousins in Pakistan have one and what not. What I found out was that they were all 125cc or less in the power department. All of them are Honda/Kawasaki classic style. I live in the states so I want something to ride and have fun on. I dont like any of the bikes I see. The bike i fell in love with was the Ducati sports classic but found out it had 1000CC!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() Then I fell in love with the American Dues cafe racer trim but saw it was 1200 CC. ![]() I want a bike with those styles( they look meaty(masculine?) and look badass) but I want one with less than 500 CC in the power department. Would a company make one similar to those styles with less power? Im lost. what to do what to do . . . ![]() also is there a way to limit the HP/TQ?

Interesting you should mention motorcycles, I'm looking to get an Iron 883 this summer.
Insurance should be cheaper on a bike with less power as well.

Do you already know how to ride? If not, I would not buy the bike of your dreams. I don't know actual statistics, but I would imagine a fair number of new riders drop their bike in the first year. If you don't get hurt, your heart still will!
I think a used Suzuki SV650 is a great bike to learn on. Given your tastes, a naked version might be tolerable. ![]() It's a little above your displacement range (power range), but IMO, it's all about self control. You can also make it a little harder to tap the power by keeping your wrist ****ed so that opening the throttle far becomes awkward. I had the same concerns about having too much torque & power when I was just getting started. However, I'm glad I didn't get a lesser bike than a SV650. I think I would have gotten bored within the first year. I highly recommend a motorcycle safety course. If you have your permit going in to the ones here in MN, you can take your license test at the end of the class. The courses give great instruction, and allow you to make mistakes on a bike you won't give a sh*t about. |

Thanks for the information brah. Haaa, I knew there was one but I forgot about it because I havent been on for a while. Lol actually 2 nights ago I had a dream of me riding a bike and seeing a BRZ on the road. WTF? I did not even think of bikes and FR-S/BRZ for a couple of months and this dream comes along. Anyways i know that my plan would be to get a bike around 500CC in the power department so I can prepare myself for the bigger CC's. If this is the way then i might just get a bike in Pak for practice(around 500CC or so). Save my money for the FR-S/BRZ for the states lols. @KaliKev that bike looks nice but I dont like low seating positions, seems too laid back for my style. although it looks like a bad ass XD.

How about a 696 Monster? Do you have an M1 license? If not, I suggest taking the class first, then look. Start small

Since you are a Ducati fan, how do you think Audi's potential take over would affect the company and bikes? I know Ducati is in buttloads of debt, but will the take over potentially decrease quality/design?
