Spark Plugs

Recommendations?

Denso Iridium (OEM)?
or
NGK Racing with Iridium tip and Platinum-coated copper ground?
or
Other brands?

Any suggestions for N/A or F/I?

Type of use, street, track?

Experiences, good, bad, other?

Any brands to steer clear of?

hks super fire racing worked well for me with 13psi, stock work fine though too.

It's my understanding that this wheel needs not to be reinvented or modified - just stick with the OEM plugs -

I'm getting an occasional misfire on cylinders #2 and 4. Am planning on replacing the set to see if it will cure the problem before I install my supercharger.

You don't think installing different plugs for forced induction would have any benefit? Just curious, are you boosted or naturally aspirated?

Misfires could be caused by the coil on plugs rather that the spark plugs.

I haven't heard from the folks that are boosted that they have any problems with the OEM plugs -

I'm not boosted, at age 77, I'm barely naturally aspirated -

Stock it is then.

Just went out to look for them and out of three chain parts stores, nobody carries the OEM Denso plugs. None of them even crosses them over to any other brand.

With all of the counterfeit plugs infesting the online shops these days, I'd hate to order them from Amazon.

I know the Toyota and Subaru dealers will have them, but I'm sure they'll be way overpriced.

Same price i paid for HKS spark plugs.

Oem work just fine.

But

If needing to replace for some reason I don’t see why upgrading the for the same price would be a bad idea.

True, but if I'm going to get down that deep into troubleshooting, then it would probably be a good idea to have the new plugs in hand before taking the existing ones out for inspection, which I will want to at least do first before ruling out two intermittently faulty coils.

According to parts.toyota.com and parts.subaru.com they are $18.99ea or $25.95ea respectively.

Those have to be some of the most expensive spark plugs that I've ever had to shell out cash for. But I need to get this done before Thursday so I gotta get 'em. Will call the local Toyota and Subaru dealers tomorrow, hopefully they'll have them in stock and I can drop in and pick them up.
