Rear Vision Mirror Rattle

Hi All,

I've been having an issue where at certain RPM (low, 2.5-3k something like that), the vibrations from my exhaust (R400) cause a resonance in the rear vision mirror, and make it rattle. Confirmed by holding it still and the noise goes away.

Any ideas how to reduce/eliminate this? I initially thought it was the prismatic flip switch but it seems to be the actual ball joint. First thought was trying to wedge some blu-tack in there, but I'm not sure that's the best idea...

I had the same thing when the radio in my car was played loud enough.
I took off the mirror and split it open. Then I got some foam and put it between any screwed in (circuit board for the auto dimming feature in my case) or pressed in parts before reassembling the mirror. That fixed it for me.

If you're going to try this you really have to pry the mirror open with a lot of force but it's totally doable. I used a small but strong spatula, like the ones used in smart phone repair to open the phone up.
