Top speed limiter datalogged
If you ever wondered how the top speed limiter worked in our cars here is a snapshot of if in a real world test. At exactly 221km/h the throttle starts to close and by 226km/h the throttle goes to 50%. The car continues to accelerate but very slowly until 230km/h. This is very different from the fuel cut top speed limiter which is usually set close to 500km/h in our cars i.e. disabled.
I also posted on Datazap : http://datazap.me/u/brn12345/top-speed-limiter-action

Can we have this kind of limiter disabled with OFT?
Which maps should i modify and which way? Or was it probably already disabled in OTS maps? |

Yes you can easily disable it with OTS. You have to edit the bin file with a software such as romraider.

Thank you. Which exactly maps/tables: Miscellanious-limits->Speed limiting (throttle)? Modify all four tables the same way? I was asking about the table names initially, just probably used the wrong definition =))) |

As standard its set to 130 odd mph. You'll struggle to get much past that and I imagine they did that so you don't create a lot of heat. You can increase those boundaries on the maps quite easily, just move them well above the possible max speed to "remove" them.

I've also added a log of this run on Datazap.me with more channels logged including oil and coolant temps. http://datazap.me/u/brn12345/top-spe...g=0&data=1-5-7

You would want to modify all 4 tables. I have attached a photo of Romraider and opened all 4 speed limiter tables. I modified one of them as you can see. Its important that you increment both values by the same amount as I did in the example by adding 40 to both sides.

I don't know really. I am going with the instructions that came with BRZedit which clearly say to increase by same amount. Could be that if you make the two numbers very close i.e. 137mph and 138mph then you would go from 100% throttle to 50% throttle in just 1mph. I would think that could be a safety concern.
