I was shopping for a DD Set of brake pads and rotors. I decided on StopTech street 308 with centric plain rotors. I wanted a non-squeeky brake with good bite. Didn't care about life or dust.

I killed mine in my second ever track day, first time at Laguna Seca. The pads never recovered, felt like chalkboard erasers until I finally gave up on them. Op have you been to the track before? If not then stock will likely be ok for your first time or two or three. Be careful and don't try and set any records until you're confident in your brakes, whatever you choose. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25485 |

Once you start leaning on the brakes you might like to consider 2 sets of pads: one for street and one for track. Swapping them out is a painless choir that can be done the day before you go to the track.

The two alternatives mentioned a lot but may not be easily available in your country are Ferodo DS2500 and Carbotech XP8 which I believe are comparable to HC800+, I don't really know how well the Hawk's would compare. |

The new Hawk Race/Street pads were really nice, they were like a higher bite Project Mu HC 800.
I've run the Hawk Street/Race, Project Mu HC 800, and the Ferodo ds2500 and the Hawks were my favorite (they were more expensive than the others, and could get loud on the street but worked amazingly at the track and for autox). |

Lots of good suggestions on this thread, I can't add too much to it. My experience with EBC Yellowstuff was decent for a dual duty track and street pad. They make a tiny bit of noise on the street and hold up to track abuse fade free. They actually bite quite a bit harder when hot than when cold. I chose to try running a more aggressive pad because they don't hold together very well and wear pretty quickly, I killed a set in a single season with moderate street and track driving.
I will note one thing that no one else here mentioned yet: Upgrade from the standard brake fluid right away. The OEM DOT3 stuff is not up to track abuse at all. A lot of people complain about fade on the OEM system and most of it can be attributed to the OEM brake fluid. If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg, Motul RBF600 is a good place to start but you may have to perform partial bleeds after any track days with this fluid so make sure you've got an extra bottle for that. If you don't want to do partial bleeds periodically then Torque RT700 or Castrol React SRF are great but expensive. |
