Waxing Windshield/Windows

Hey all, so after some research and speaking with friends, I'm wondering, who else waxes their windshield/windows?

I decided to give it a shot my last wash, and I've gotta say, I'm loving it. The basic idea is that it works the same way it would on the paint to repel water and other stains. It also keeps the wipers from squeaking when in use (although they shouldn't be squeaking to begin with). We've had a couple showers here in socal the last few weeks, and it definitely works to repel water. Unless it's pouring, I doubt I'd even have to use my wipers now. Seems to be a lot more effective than Rain-X while also being easier to apply.

For people that do wax their windshield/windows, any preferences on wax? Liquid/Synthetic/Old Fashion Caranuba? I used some Meguiar's Cleaner Wax (paste) since I already had it lying around.

I hit the whole exterior with TurtleWax Ice spray wax every time I wash. Works great on glass (and plastidipped trim too)

RainX or some other sealant/treatment would lasts longer on the winshield IMO, but yeah, I've polished and waxed glass before.

Interesting, I've heard conflicting stories of wax lasting longer than RainX. I've used it in the past, but it would always take some effort to get it on properly. No doubt it works, but I had a lot of the problems associated with it in the past: chattering wipers, left over residues, fast fading.

Liquid and polymer based waxes seemed to be pretty popular these days. I might need to pick up a bottle when mine runs out.

On a somewhat related note, has anyone ever tried using shaving cream on the inside of their windshield/windows to prevent fogging? I use it on my bathroom mirror after showering and it definitely works there, just curious to see if anyone has tried in on a car.

^ this. I used rainX for a while but got tired of the streaky mess every time I drove through some dust. And I definitely experienced wiper chatter but chalked it up to old blades. Although the bottle does warn to keep it off of rubber trim.

I'm curious about the shaving cream trick. Never tried it. Oldschool white foam and that nuclear blue gel? Someone call the Mythbusters...

I tried Rain-x a couple of times. Sucked. Harder to properly apply, and doesn't bead water or last as long as the Collinite wax I use now. I wax everything that's not rubber =)
