The officer can tell you whatever you want to hear. It's up to you to 1) read and understand what you are being cited for, 2) point out any discrepancies or errors on the ticket to the officer, and 3) all else being the same, what's written on the ticket is what matters.

You can ignore the ticket and pay the fine. When I paid mine back in 2003 or so, it costs $500+.

And a final word of advice: 27156(b) means you cannot drive the car until you get it fixed, period. 27156(f) is the code that prohibits you from driving the car.

Read my previous post above yours. My ticket hasn't even been processed yet, and thus 1. i don't even know how much i should be paying. 2. Theres no point to smog it until further notice.
