Ideally it should be, and coolers like the cusco help warm the oil up to temperature more quickly on engine start. However my oil gets up to 260 on track (on a warm day, even with short sessions) and this is right at the top of the safe limit - my tune limits the engine to 5k rpm if it goes above this, so I need a cooler to keep it just below this.
