A further point of note:

The 370Z puts down (whp) ~280 in 6MT and ~265 in 7AT trim and weighs in around 3300 lbs. That means 1 whp for every 11.79 / 12.45 lb or so of car.

If the FT-86 weighs in around 2600 lbs (quite likely based on all their earlier claims) it will need to make ~220.5 / ~209 whp to have the same performance capability.

That will probably require a blower or turbo (I'd be surprised if the FT-86 even makes that much power to the crank), but if Toyota keeps the price a good 10 grand less than the 370Z and either offers a factory option or a stout enough motor, it should be easy to turn the new car into a very quick little monster, and still cost less than a Z.

Not to mention better fuel efficiency.

Argh... Toyota needs to release more info already...
