Same here but my short barrel option Remington 870 pump first round is 00 buckshot alternated with slugs with muzzle energy equivalent to a loaded 18-wheeler.
If that doesn't slow the zombies down, it should allow enough time to get to the HK 45 ACP Compact (my legal carry weapon because the holster clears the seat belt latch) in the front of the house or my favorite Browning High Power 9 in the back.
I don't have a baseball bat but have several tennis racquets except those don't count.
