Well the Canada Dry that I grew up on sure had the "real" stuff. But if there is a way to make more profit (by substituting ingredients) you can rest assured that some sneaky business types will find a way. Canada Dry went down hill after Dr. Pepper bought it.
I drink far too much soda. Since being fired I've gain over 25 pounds. Mostly due to taking all my pills with cola and not being able to walk by the frig without stopping to have a mouth full of pop from my latest open bottle.
The wife and I like to drink a 50/50 mix of orange juice and Canada Dry. Coke used to be better than Pepsi until they changed their recipe during the Great Cola Wars.
