I’m no expert, but if you do start, buy shit tone of sandpapers, cuz you’ll use A LOT of em. Of course, you can do 1095, 440C or other better metal... but for beginner wolf will prob agree w me to use 1080/1084 steel.
I have about 4000lbs of scrap 5160H at the moment and I know how to heat treat that so I will probably fail at that a bunch for the sake of learning.
