Any sealant you use would need to be one designed/able to hold up under high temps like a wheel sealant or Finish Kare's High Temp Paste Wax.

Before going to the Mother's metal polish mentioned earlier, you might want to try Eagle One Nevr-Dull. The wadding in those cans polishes and cleans up tail pipes pretty nicely without getting as aggressive as the Mother Polish. P21 Polishing Soap might be another option too.

I always start with the Nevr-Dull and move up to the Mother's if needed.
