If you ever need to pass your driving test on manual car you will fail if you don't down shift at least to 2nd.
But why the hell do you need to clutch-in to brake?
Even if you are not planning to downshift just brake in a gear and put in neutral before stopping.
And all your attempt to save clutch will lead to failed TOD and you will have to change clutch since you are already there.
