In the UK at least the pricing of the BRZ makes total sense when you look at it analytically. It's about the price of the cheapest MX5 2.0i. It's a touch more expensive than the 156ps Pug RCZ & about 10% cheaper than the 200ps version. It's 20% cheaper than the base 370Z. The remaining competition around its price point are these FWD pseudo-coupe hatchback things which the BRZ is a real alternative to for those who want a pure sports car rather than a mildly disguised & boring hot-hatch (even though they will be much faster in a straight line & probably round a track).

Not necessarily, the car may be slightly more expensive but as it sits you can get fully equipped brz limiteds for 26k here. Compared to a 370z base is 28k. I've driven a 370z and wasn't ultimately a fan it felt numb and the build quality was only slightly better than a 350z
I'd take a 250hp BRZ with all the amenities over a base 370z if the prices were the same for sure. I priced out a 370z as a new daily and it didn't make sense because equipped as I wanted it would cost closer to 40K and I'm now in used C6 Z06 territory
