I bet FT86 ends up sticking. At least for a certain niche of enthusiasts. And a certain group of idiots that don't know what it stands for.
A for the A series engine (4A-GE)
E for the Chassis (E = Corolla, A = Supra..and Celica [gen 1-3], T = Celica [4th gen forward], P = Sport 800, Starlet, [U]P Yaris/Vitz, W = MR-2 etc)
