I grew up with muscle cars. I am of the group that feels that the true muscle car pretty much died out in the mid 70s though.

High powered 4 door sedans are NOT muscle cars and never have been while Mustangs and Camaros are firmly in the Pony car category no matter how much power they make. Hell, the category was even named after the mustang!

To some extent the Challenger is the only survivor and even that is closer to the Pony car definition (that us old guys know) now.
