so not entirely weird, but definitely something that should be resolved by the manufacturer.

The mechanic who was replacing the exhaust was also surprised. He said most cars have small drain holes. He was trying to get the water out by shaking it but I guess it took too long. When I brought it home I was standing outside my garage for like 10 minutes shaking the muffler this and that way and I still couldn't get it all out. So I said screw it, drilled 2 small holes and got all the water out that way
