As soon as anybody say "feel" in reference to anything I pretty much ignore it. The "feel" of a shifter, steering, ride, etc is completely subjective to the speaker's taste and is not a measurable metric in any way.
I have driven a couple of Miata's and there is not one single thing about them where I preferred their "feel". The shifter is soft and mushy, the steering is imprecise, the body roll is... well Miata like.
