Are you sure you are reading the dipstick properly and at the right time?

(sorry, I had to ask)

Well, on the bright side you got extra oil -

(that is the reason I always check the oil level after a oil change, before I leave the lot)

I doubt that that amount of overfill is causing the engine to run sluggish.

However, if the overfill is causing the oil in the crankcase to foam, it ain't doing the engine any good.

I'd drain out a quart and keep it to top off the oil if necessary.
