No expert here, but valve springs are internal, so I wouldn't see them as a cause. (unless it of course caused a major engine failure!)

That said, the various gaskets & seals that are replaced when the recall work is done may fix some of your leaks...depending where they are coming from (and whether those parts are dis/reassembled during the work).
