I skipped the V8 route and had a 2016 full engine/trans pull put in. I really wanted to do it, but I live in smog zone and didn't want to hassle with the V8 conversion. And the shop was uber nervous about getting DEQ happy, the semantics of the swap was easy. Plus, it was about twice the cost of getting it back on the road with stock gear and I was tired of driving my 87 shitbox accord gap filling commuter.
Kid gets a car instead of a rental company getting the gap money. Still a POS, hasn't passed DEQ yet, three tries so far after working on it way too much. Lesson learned.
My HKS is back on and all, and I had no crickets for a while there. Now, they're back. Took a few weeks, not sure what's in the Oregon fuel, but it brought them back in two tanks, damn. Engine from wrecking yard in Sacramento area for reference.
