Well, you're in the right time period. The picture is of Art Arfons and one of his "green monsters". He and Craig Breedlove passed the world land speed record back and fourth, back in the 1960s.

The first "green monster" I saw raced, was back in the late 1950s at Kil-Kare drag strip near Dayton, Ohio. That early version of Art Arfons green monster was a piston engine, powered by a Allison V-12, supercharged aircraft engine. -
